Founded in 1939 by Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard, HP produces products such as computers, printers, and servers. HP is also known for Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), which offers business and government services.
HP-branded companies have been criticized for playing a significant role in the oppression faced by Palestinians. These companies are alleged to be complicit in Israel's occupation, settler-colonialism, and apartheid regime. They provide computer hardware to the Israeli army and operate data centers through their servers for the Israeli police. Notably, the Itanium servers supplied by HP are used to run the Aviv System, the computerized database of Israel's Population and Immigration Authority. This system forms the backbone of Israel's racial segregation and apartheid practices.
In 2015, HP split into two companies: HP Inc. for consumer hardware and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) for business and government services. Both HP-branded companies continue to cooperate with Israel's apartheid regime and settler colonialism.
